Firms Cut Costs with VoIP

Many firms are addressing the economic downturn through taking advantage of advancements in the capabilities of their phone systems, the latest research has suggested. VOIP enabled phone systems support remote working better than traditional systems, all the functionality can be preserved ensuring productivity is maintained. If a VOIP deployment is catalysed by the desire to reduce office space or retain staff even greater benefits are derived through accommodation and staff churn related savings.

According to a study by Microsoft and CoreNet Global, 65 per cent of European businesses are deploying alternative workplace strategies, which can include the use of VoIP systems to allow employees to operate remotely.

The research found that companies are using telecoms utilities alongside web conferencing in order to cut costs during the credit crunch.

Dr Prentice Knight, chief executive officer for CoreNet Global, commented that these tactics are being used because the recession has left many firms facing new challenges over the last year, meaning that they have had to adopt new practices, such as VoIP systems.
