Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) is part fibre optic cable and part copper infrastructure. FTTC involves running fibre optic cables from the telephone exchange to the street cabinets, which then connect to a standard phone line to provide broadband. This is combined with a copper cable from the cabinet to the business to deliver much faster speeds over shorter distances.

FTTC is capable of delivering download speeds of up to 40Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10Mbps. This service uses fibre connections to the street cabinet, significantly reducing the copper usage resulting in high-speed access.

Not everyone will receive the maximum speed as it depends on the length of your phone line to the cabinet which is providing your broadband service, but BT Openreach will guarantee that the minimum sync speed will be 15Mbps. Please note that speeds vary considerably depending on the line, technology available and distance from the exchange. BtL can provide expected speeds to your premises when using our contact form.

For more information or for expected speeds at your location please call 0800 011 4088 or email sales@btlc.co.uk
